Meet my new adopted pup snob. Balmain designed his amazing outfit. When he retired he plans to follow in the footsteps of Elvis and Liberace and head to Vegas. He will be up for auction to benefit UNICEF! Proceeds will go to an orphanage in Bangladesh. You must bid on him!

R.I.P Loulou de la Falaise, the fashion world will forever be a dimmer place without you.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Loulou de la Falaise in 2008 when Oscar de la Renta asked me to host the debut of her jewel collaboration with the brand in Los Angeles and in Dallas.  Loulou took one look at me when I arrived at the event in LA and chose the largest pearl and diamond necklace from the collection for me to wear.  She winked as she put it on me and said “I have a feeling nothing less will do for you”. 

Over dinner that evening, she told me about her life (she said she considers herself more English than French, and that not many people knew that about her), her daughter, and stories of Yves Saint Laurent.  For once in my life, I stayed quiet and hung on to every word.

When she came to Dallas for our second event a few months later, she greeted me as if we were old friends.  Loulou, so vivacious and full of life, charmed the hundreds of Dallas guests who came to meet her.  After the event, she looked at me and said “and where are we going next?”  I replied that I was exhausted and was heading home.  She teased me for acting old and said to stay young— I must never stop dancing, making love or laughing.  Advice that I have taken to heart.

The next day, she and her business partner Ariel texted me from the airport— they thanked me for everything and asked me to stay in touch.  Through the years I emailed a few times, each time receiving a response from Ariel as dictated by Loulou.

I won’t pretend I knew this woman well, and certainly could not say we were anything more than acquaintances.  But the brief moments I spent with her will be treasured for a lifetime.

It all started in 2009 when I started tweeting.  Bag Snob tweeted a blog post about one of our handbags that let’s just say, wasn’t as complimentary as I would have liked. When I saw the tweet I was faced with the dilemma that any PR person on Twitter deals with, do I respond or not? I decided I was going to face Bag Snob head on, so I tweeted them: “Haven’t you ever taken a picture of yourself that just doesn’t do you justice?” Our friendship and mutual respect grew from that day on.  Little did I know that Bag Snob was a huge fan of Donna’s and her collections since childhood. Fast forward a few months later at a Donna Karan public appearance in Dallas and Tina Craig of Bag Snob meets and is fit by Donna Karan herself. We’ve been BFF ever since. 

So when Bag Snob called me to see if perhaps we wanted to do a handbag collaboration, the answer was easy.  They actually created a handbag formula to live by, called the FIVE ESSENTIALS.  According to them, these are the handbags every woman needs to complete her bag wardrobe- The Tote, The Travel, The Treasure, The Trendy, and The Clutch. 

The wait is over for Bag Snob x DKNY… get your credit cards ready because they will be available on dkny.com next week!

As a PR girl, I got first dibs.  I am already toting the Treasure and if I have a $1 for every compliment I get on that bag, well I might just be lying on a lounge chair in Parrot Cay….
